Global postural reeducation
Global postural reeducation (GPR) is a physiotherapy approach where the body is considered in its global aspect.
It has for goal to realign the body through postural exercises.
GPR’s aim is to balance the musculature by stretching or strengthening it depending on its need.
During your first visit, the physiotherapist will evaluate your symptoms, posture, muscle retractions, flexibility, strength and range of motion.
The physiotherapist will then choose different treatment postures (standing, sitting or lying) to gradually stretch the muscle chains that are retracted, strengthen weak chains and improve your posture.
During treatment, there will be a combination of stretching, respiratory and active work from the patient and manual work from the physiotherapist.
You can also be given postures to practice at home.
The duration of the treatment is 60 minutes.
